the ocean is my only medication

Believe it or not, I'm have just returned home from my last - yes LAST - Spring Break of my Undergraduate career. Honestly, when did I grow up?! Katie (my wonderful, patient, caring roommate who is just so fabulous as to put up with me on a daily basis) and I went to Key West, Florida and it could not have been more wonderful. We layed on the beach, we snorkeled aka Katie snorkeled and I barely escaped drowning, and we ate massive amounts of carbs and took a page from Jimmy Buffet's book and enjoyed plenty of margaritas. It was such a fabulous time! Here are some pictures from our trip! (there would be more, but I just cannot for the life of me figure out this thing....help me all you blogging experts!)

Key West Sunset from Mallory Square - we went almost every night!

Waiting for the sun to set

Happy Hour at Kelly's

We saw dolphins from the snorkel boat!

To Find a Dream and a Life of Her Own

And the countdown continues...

4 days until Spring Break in Key West!
58 days until Graduation!
81 days until KD LDC Training!

With one paper and one midterm down, and three more midterms to go, I am so ready to hit the beaches, throw my cap, and be walking in Memphis Lonestar-style ASAP [yes, I'm aware of my obsession with country music references. #sorryimnotsorry].

Last week, Lindsey Houchin, a current Kappa Delta Consultant, visited my chapter - Alpha Epsilon - and I had the wonderful opportunity of getting to know her and picking her brain about the consultant lifestyle. I'm sure she thought I was an absolute crazy person as I feverishly wrote down every syllable she uttered, but I was so incredibly thankful for her words of wisdom! She also passed along some links to some ADPi consultant blogs which could give even more insight into being a professional sorority girl/road warrior/frequent flyer. My favorite is Miss Magnolia - a precious, southern girl with the wits and writing style of The Pioneer Woman and the enthusiasm of Elle Woods - a blogging style I could only dream to accomplish. And of course, I have already emailed her asking for advice as well...gosh I'm so annoying! Luckily, she was as sweet as pie and answered all my questions with the same southern charm that oozes from each of her entries - I couldn't be more star-struck with these ladies!!

With all these encounters with my consultant celebrities, I am even more excited if that is humanly possible to start my dream job!! I have started my Travel Year Wish List in all this spare time I have...oh wait, that's called procrastination and I thought I'd share it with you...if you're out there...hello?! echo....echo.....echo....cricket.

spinners are apparently MANDATORY in the consultant world, and Miss Magnolia personally recommended these babies
the customer reviews on amazon and overstock are not the most glowing, but i trust Miss Magnolia's year of experience over some stranger online

do i really need to give an explanation? it's a fabulous piece of technology. i want one.

this planner is to me what cocaine is to lindsey lohan...i mean really.
i cannot believe i have just now discovered this woman and her amazing gifts of wonderful plannerness

so incredibly out of my price range, but so ridiculously beautiful and professional and perfect. *sigh* a girl can dream

That's the list folks. Not incredibly extensive, but it is incredibly expensive. Feel free to donate to the cause ;-) Even without all these beautiful accessories, I know that my travel year is going to be absolutely extraordinary, and I cannot wait to see what God and Kappa Delta have in store for me!

Blogging is relatively new to me so...here goes nothing...

It has been an absolute whirlwind of a senior year! Looking at my calendar today, I cannot believe that it's already March and midterm season, and I have so little time left as a collegian! Despite these intense feelings of "where did my life go?!" (honestly...when did I grow up? Are we not still in the 90's? Is it appalling that I listen to NSYNC on the treadmill!?), I still have many countdowns ticking through my brain! Honestly, I wouldn't be me if I wasn't looking to the future. So enjoy:

9 days till Spring Break in Key West with Katie
(yes, I am the luckiest girl in the world!)
64 days till Graduation
(am I seriously this old?!)
86 days till Kappa Delta LDC Training
(That stands for "Leadership Development Consultant," and NO I cannot believe I got my dream job. YES I'm more excited than you can imagine)

It is just such honor and blessing to know that so many AMAZING things are on the horizon in my life right now! It makes all the stress and worry and tears shed over the past six months worth it! I finally have a plan and I'm less than three months away from starting my DREAM JOB! How did I get this lucky?! I just cannot believe it.
Of course, senioritis has taken some deeeeeeep roots since Beth Martin Langford (Kappa Delta Sorority's National President...aka celebrity in my eyes and my personal idol) called me on February 13th and offered me this job (insert a million thank you's muttered through some very unattractive sobbing here), but luckily the excitement of beginning this new chapter is pushing me through the last couple weeks of college. And my precious mother constantly reminds me not to "Wish these last few months away" and to "soak it all in." So here I sit, in African Literature, bored out of my mind, and dreaming of the days ahead, and typing this blog...sorry Momma, but this particular moment just isn't really worth "soaking in." Until next time...
